This classic lantern, inspired by the old street lamps of the 19th century, is perfect for lighting your terrace or porch.
This die-cast aluminium lamp is painted with polyester powders for outdoor use. The powder coating is done after an anti-corrosion treatment to increase the resistance to UV rays. The satin diffuser filters the light and diffuses a soft light.
At what height to hang a pendant lamp?
1. Above a dining table
Above a dining table, lower the pendant lamp so that it is up to 60 to 70 cm above the table. This means you won’t be blinded when you eat and won’t hit your head when you get up. The height indicated corresponds to the distance between the top of the table and the lowest part of the suspension light. The light should end up approximately at your eye level when you are standing, and you’ll see the underside of the light when you are sitting. You need to ensure that the light diffused by the pendant lamp illuminates the entire table. 2. Above a coffee table
A pendant lamp placed above a coffee table should be placed higher than those installed above a dining table so that you do not hit your head. 3. In the middle of a room
You should leave about 210 cm between the floor and the lowest part of the pendant lamp so that tall people do not hit their heads. If it is hung above a piece of furniture or in a corner, it can go down lower. 4. Above the kitchen worktop
Hand the light at least 180 cm from the floor or between 75 and 85 cm from your worktop or countertop. Don't hang your suspension too high, so you don't have to look at the light all the time, but it shouldn’t be too low either as it might not illuminate the whole worktop. 5. On each side of a mirror in the bathroom
If you want to hang two pendant lamps on each side of a mirror, they are best positioned according to the average eye height of your family members. It is also recommended that the two suspension lights are not more than 70 cm apart so that the face is sufficiently illuminated.
How should I install several pendant lights?
There are several ways to install pendant lamps. You can choose to install different kinds of lamps or several identical lamps. The fabric cables can be wired to a single electrical point or to several independent electrical points. If there is only one electrical point on the ceiling, but you still want to hang several pendant lamps, make sure you choose the right ceiling rose. For example, if you want to wire five lamps to one electrical point, choose a ceiling rose with at least five holes (see "here"), or a "rose with a large opening" that can accommodate several fabric cables.
You can find the complete collection of Zangra "ceiling roses" here.
Wherever you want your pendant light to hang, you need to fix an "insulator" to the ceiling. An insulator is a kind of button with which you attach your cable to the ceiling. You can find several types of insulators on our page dedicated to "Lighting Accessories".
The lamp must be attached with a hook, which is not included.
What does the IP value mean on a light fitting?
All light fittings are classified according to their IP value. These IP values (International Protection or Ingress Protection) indicate the degree of protection of the light fitting against dust and moisture. The IP value consists of two digits: the first digit indicates the level of protection against dust; the second, the level of protection against moisture. The higher the IP value, the higher the protection. Check this diagram to see the different existing IP values.
What does IP43 mean?
IP43 means that this lamp is protected against:
4 : a solid object greater than 1mm.
3 : sprays of water up to 60° from the vertical.
Indoor: rated for installation in bathroom zone 3.
Outdoor: suitable for outdoor use if correctly installed in zone 4 (see zone diagrams in the gallery).
See our damp-rated lights for bathroom section for more information.
Is the light bulb included?
The light bulb is not included when you buy this light. You will find >>here<< the whole selection of LED, incandescent, stick and halogen light bulbs. Take into account that each light needs a specific type of light bulb. You will find the kind of light bulb that it requires under the "Technical Description" tab.
Are the screws included?
No screws are supplied, as the type of screw depends on the material of the wall or ceiling (concrete, brick, plasterboard, wood).
You need a different type of screws depending on each material.
