What is honeycomb textile?

Honeycomb textile, also known as waffle fabric, is a fabric with a three-dimensional geometric pattern that closely resembles the structure of a honeycomb or a waffle.

  • Structure: it is a type of piqué fabric, often made of cotton, with a distinctive 3D appearance created by its textured surface.
  • Characteristics: it is highly absorbent, breathable, lightweight and does not crease easily.
  • Origin: waffle fabric is a traditional weaving technique that has been used in the textile industry for a long time.
  • Traditional use: thanks to its high absorbency, it has long been used for household textiles such as tea towels, towels and bathrobes.
  • Excellent absorbency: the “waffle” structure increases the surface area of the fabric, allowing it to absorb much more moisture than flat fabrics.
  • Quick drying: despite its high absorbency, the fabric dries faster than, for example, terry cloth.
  • Retro trend: as it is often associated with traditional (yet high-quality) household linen, current interior trends give it a retro or vintage feel.
  • Timeless: however, the pattern is so classic that it has never truly gone out of fashion and is now more popular than ever!
